Welcome to Term 4, Week 8
READING / SPELLING
This
will be the last week for our normal spelling and reading programme. The children are doing so well, many scoring
4/4 most weeks. Please continue to
support them with this homework.
END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE –
Tuesday, 9th December, 5.30pm
Please
let me, or Deanna, know if you are not able to come along to the
performance. The children will all have
a part to play in our story of Advent and will be bringing home a note to
explain what they will need to wear / bring.
DONATION FOR ST VINNIE”S
As
part of our Catholic and school values of caring for others we are asking for
a can of food for the St Vincent de Paul collection basket. You can bring this in to the classroom at any
time, or add it to the basket on the night of the concert.
SYNDICATE CHRISTMAS PICNIC
– Monday, 15th December
To
celebrate the end of the year we will be going to the Botanics for a Syndicate
picnic. You are invited to bring a
picnic lunch to share with your child at midday.
SWIMMING FROM WEEK 9
Please
can all children bring along their togs and a towel each day from next week so
we can go swimming when the weather permits.
If your child has any concerns around water please let me know. Our programme focuses on safety and
confidence in the water.

MUSEUM TRIP IS ON MONDAY, 24th NOVEMBER. WE LEAVE SCHOOL AT 10.45am
Welcome to Term 4, Week 7
MATHS
We
are getting pretty good at counting up to 20 AND counting backwards again, as
we have been studying our teen numbers.
We know that a teen number has one group of ten in it. We have been also learning all about shapes
with Mrs Trengrove this term. What
shapes can you find at home?
READING / SPELLING
Please
continue to record the book your child reads each day, and what spelling
practice they do at home. If your child
wants “extra for experts”, I have suggested they get tested on all their old
words to see how many they can remember “off by heart”.
END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE –
Tuesday, 9th December, 5.30pm
In
the event of rain, a postponement date of Thursday, 11th December
has been set. Many families like to
bring a picnic tea to have at school after the performance has finished.
As
part of our Catholic and school values of caring for others we will be asking
for a can of food for the St Vincent de Paul collection basket. This can be brought along to the concert or
during the days leading up to it.
SYNDICATE CHRISTMAS PICNIC
– Monday, 15th December
To
celebrate the end of the year we will be going to the Botanics for a Syndicate
picnic. You are invited to bring a
picnic lunch to share with your child at midday.
CLASS REWARD
We
are very close to filling up our 100s chart, so the children will be thinking
about the class reward. We will keep you
posted with how we will celebrate this act of teamwork.
Welcome to Term 4, Week 6
MUSEUM TRIP – NEXT MONDAY, 24th November
Please let me, or Deanna, know if you are
able to help on Monday for our trip to the Museum. We will be leaving the classroom at 10.45am
and returning around lunchtime. This
will probably be the last trip for the year, and we really appreciate your
help. Thank you!! Please note the day has changed from Friday.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Please help your child become responsible
for their belongings and remember to bring their home pack, reading book and
homework book, as well as their hat, EVERY SINGLE DAY. The children also need to remember to return
their Friday Folder and Published Stories book (if they are taken home) on a
Monday as well as bringing back their library book each week.
SPELLING PRACTICE
The
children are really doing well with their spelling tests on Fridays, with many
children getting them all right and earning a scale for their fish. Please support them each night while they are
learning them off by heart.
END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE
The
staff has been busy planning the end of year performance, which will be held on
Tuesday, 9th December at 5.30pm. Keep
the date free!

SPRING GALA
Thank you to all the families who helped to
make yesterday a huge success. The Gala
is such a valuable fundraiser for our school, as well as being a wonderful
community event.
SUTER / MUSEUM TRIP
Again, thank you parents who came along to
the Suter last week. We really
appreciate you giving up your time to help us on these trips and the children
love it when you can come.
Next week, on Friday 21st
November, we have a trip to the Museum.
Please let me, or Deanna, know if you are able to come along. We will be leaving school at 10.45am, after
an early morning tea and returning at approximately 12.30pm.
FAREWELL
We wish Luca and his family a bon voyage at
the end of this week, as they go for a family holiday to Argentina until the
end of the year. We hope you have a safe
and enjoyable trip and wish you Merry Christmas!

Welcome to Term 4, Week 4
SPRING GALA
Remember,
remember the 9th of November !! We hope as many of you as possible
will make it to the Gala THIS SUNDAY, 11am until 3pm. The children from the Junior Syndicate will
be performing Jump Jam on the stage at 12.40pm.
If you are able to offer some time helping on a stall at the Gala, for
maybe an hour or so, please see me.
SUTER TRIP – MUSIC IN ART
The
Suter Art Gallery trip is this THURSDAY, 6th NOVEMBER at 9am. Please let me, or Deanna, know as soon as
possible if you would like to come along and help. Thank you!
WEEK 5
On
Monday and Tuesday next week I will be out of the classroom, as I will be
‘parent helping’ on my daughter, Hannah’s school camp. We are lucky to have Sue Hudson to teach the
children. She works in the Lower Middle
Syndicate and will come and introduce herself to the children at the end of
this week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Please
help your child become responsible for their belongings and remember to bring
their home pack, reading book and homework book, as well as their hat, EVERY
SINGLE DAY.
*************************************
Welcome to Term 4, Week 3
SUMMER IS HERE !!
Most of
the children are staying sun smart and remembering to bring their school hat
each day. However, there are a few
children who have not brought a hat to school.
The school office has some navy hats for sale at a very competitive
price if you need to buy one. It works
best if the children can leave their hat in their chair bags or on their hooks
at school every day, so they do not need to remember it. Please remember to name your hat clearly!
SPRING GALA - MUFTI DAY & COOKIE JARS
This
Friday we have another Mufti Day to raise money for the school Gala. Please donate $2 if your child comes to
school in Mufti.
A few
children still need to return their cookie jars. Please do this as soon as possible.
Thanks
for your support of the Gala – November 9th will be here before you
know it!
SUTER TRIP – MUSIC IN ART
Next
week we have a Suter Art Gallery trip and would love some parents to come along
to help us. If you are free on THURSDAY,
6th NOVEMBER at 9am please let me, or Deanna, know as soon as
possible. Thank you!

IS HERE !!
Please ensure your child has a named school

school which will be enforced from this week.
No hat will mean your child must remain in the shade at break times.
CALENDAR
ART
The orders for the calendar art fundraiser
are due in by the end of THIS WEEK so please support this great fundraiser for
the school. Perhaps you can be thinking
of Christmas present ideas for relatives?
READING
It is crucial your child reads regularly so
please spend a bit of time listening to them read every day. Recording the reading you do below helps us
to monitor your child’s progress.
Welcome back to Term 4, Week 1
We hope you had a wonderful family time
over the last two weeks and are ready for the last term of this school
year. As always, it will be a busy one!!
CALENDAR
ART
The orders for the calendar art fundraiser
are due in by the end of WEEK 2 so please come into the classroom and check out
your child’s wonderful artwork. These
are also displayed on the Room 1 Class Blog if you cannot get in and the order
forms were sent home with your child on the last day of term.
If you need another order form, please let
me know. The art makes wonderful
presents and keepsakes so if you are able, please get behind this great school
fundraiser.
SYNDICATE
TRIP
Next week we have a trip organised to the
Brook Waimarama Sanctuary to start our Topic Unit for the term. Please see the enclosed letter giving more
details around this and return the reply slip as soon as possible. We’d love to have as many parents as possible
share this experience.
SPELLING
WORDS
The children will be continuing with their
spelling programme this term. In their
homework books there is a list of the Essential Words they were tested on at
the end of last term. The aim is for the
students to learn these words “off by heart” so they can be used easily when
they are writing stories. The words in
these lists make up a high percentage of the writing vocabulary they use.
Please help your child as they learn their allocated spelling words for
homework.
